Create firewall rules for the backup agent in the built-in Windows Firewall.
Checks and creates firewall rules for backup agent executables to allow inbound and outbound internet connection to storages, MBS portal, etc. The rules are created for the following executables:
- Online Backup.exe (the Product Name specified in MBS in Settings -> General)
This cmdlet is mostly helpful in environments with strong security polices that prevent the backup agent from communicating with the MBS portal and/or storage destinations. On an average system configuration (e.g. desktop operating systems) all connections with the backup agent can function normally - in this case these firewall rules are not mandatory, but still may be useful to have.
Example 1: Add firewall rules for installed MBS backup agent.
This example adds 10 firewall rules (5 inbound and 5 outbound) and returns the result of the operation.
PS C:\> New-MBSFirewallRuleSet Firewall rules added successfully - 10
