Cannot complete Restore Verification (code 2031)
Situation
An image-based backup with Restore Verification enabled terminates with the following warning: Objects required for Restore Verification are detected in long-term storage (S3 Glacier, Azure Archive). Restore Verification cannot be completed.
Cause
The image-based backup plan configuration has the Restore Verification feature enabled and the storage class of the cloud storage is one of the long-term ones. Restore Verification requires downloading some backup parts from backup storage. Data retrieval from long-term storage classes takes up to several hours and retrieval rates may be applied. For these reasons, Restore Verification is disabled for long-term storage destinations.
Solution
Decide if you need Restore Verification. If the Restore Verification is necessary for your backup purposes, change the storage class of your backup destination or change the storage account. To edit the storage class, proceed as follows:
- Switch to the Backup Plans tab.
- Find the required backup plan, then expand it.
- Click Edit.
- Follow the backup wizard steps to the Compression and Encryption settings step.
- In the Storage class, select another storage class (for AWS S3 storage accounts) or unselect the Use Archive Blonb Storage check box (for Microsoft Azure storage accounts).
- Follow the backup wizard steps to save the backup plan configuration.
- Run the backup plan again.
Alternatively, you can disable the Restore Verification. To do this, proceed as follows:
- Switch to the Backup Plans tab.
- Find the required backup plan, then expand it.
- In the Restore Verification, click the edit icon.
- Select the Do not run Restore Verification option.
- Click OK.
