EWS Deprecation: Microsoft 365/Google Workspace Backup Is Preparing for the Transition

Important Changes

• The EWS API has been replaced with the Microsoft Graph API.
  Microsoft is retiring Exchange Web Services (EWS) in Exchange Online as part of its move toward modern APIs such as Microsoft Graph. For domains that were already added to backup before the API migration, check whether a Global Administrator completed the Sign in as admin procedure before the migration. If not, a Global Administrator should complete this procedure to grant the required permissions and ensure that backups continue to run. No further action is required for domains where this procedure was completed before the migration.
  For domains added to backup after the migration, the required permissions will be requested automatically when a Global Administrator signs in for the first time.

Action Required: Approve Microsoft Graph Permissions

As part of the migration from Exchange Web Services (EWS) to Microsoft Graph, action may be required on your side to ensure Exchange Online backup and restore continue to work correctly.

If a Global Administrator has not already approved the required permissions, follow these steps:

1. Sign in to the service dashboard of MSP360 Microsoft 365/Google Workspace Backup.

2. Open the account menu in the upper-right corner.

3. Click Sign in as admin.

4. Sign in with a Microsoft 365 Global Administrator account and approve the requested Microsoft Graph permissions. The required Microsoft Graph permissions will be requested automatically. You do not need to select them manually.

This step is required only if the necessary permissions have not already been approved.
