Controller Type Changed (code 2049)
Situation
A restore plan finishes with the following info message: Controller type changed. Some disks of the restored virtual machine(s) were on NVMe host controller: restoring of virtual machines with disks on NVMe controllers is not supported. The controller was changed to SCSI. The list of VMs with changed controller type
Cause
This info message occurs for VMs that have some disks on the NVMe host controller. The restore of VMs with such disks is not supported. Upon restore, the controller type was changed to SCSI.
Solution
If using of NVMe controller is inevitable, you can change the controller type straight in the ESXi host.
